PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

DNA Testing observation and review, Biotech Trends/APRF NW LLC/Genelex Corp., 

Seattle and Bellevue Washington.   January 2009 to present

Performs the role of DNA expert while visiting laboratories to observe DNA testing in 

criminal cases, reviews laboratory work documents, assists in evidence handling and 

outside testing of DNA samples and evidence.  Also provides general DNA case consultation.

Previously approved for observation in the Washington State Patrol Crime labs in Seattle, Marysville, Vancouver, and Cheney locations.

Molecular Technologist III, Genelex Corporation, Seattle, WA

Performs high complexity, high-throughput genetic testing on a variety of human 

biological substances in a clinical laboratory. Applies knowledge and a wide variety of 

DNA methodologies using the techniques of molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, 

and genetics. May perform a variety of laboratory techniques, that may include various 

molecular biology procedures such as PCR, STRs, SNPs, DNA sequencing, and DNA 

isolation using various methodologies. The Supervisor or peer reviews data after 

completion. Completes analytical work in a timely manner as established by 

management. Assists in the implementation of new technologies and performs methods 

research. Follows all standard operating procedures including QA & QC procedures, 

maintains safe and orderly work areas. Coordinates QA & QC for the entire laboratory.

Records and correctly interprets the results of all analyses, according to set procedures 

and guidelines. Includes the recording and preservation of all necessary supporting 

documentation in performing testing. Provides independent review of the data of other 

molecular technologists. Prepares and/or reviews documentation for laboratory 

accreditation. Assists the Scientific Director in the evaluation of overall 

laboratory operations and implements changes as necessary.

Laboratory Supervisor, Genelex Corporation, Seattle, WA. 

Responsible for supervising daily laboratory operations for paternity and forensic 

casework. Performs scientific analyses of criminal and civil cases, prepares reports based 

on the interpretation of observations and analytical test results, assists in court 

preparations. Supervises and trains laboratory personnel. Reviews and/or participates in 

casework, quality control, proficiency testing, training, and personnel performance. 

Participates in validation and quality control of new methodologies before use in

casework. Prepares and/or reviews documentation for laboratory accreditation. Assists 

the Scientific Director in the evaluation of overall laboratory operations and implements 

changes as necessary. Administers personnel and laboratory policies. Assists with 

internal reports and budgets. Consults with clients, and law enforcement professionals. 

Participates in the development of company strategy for management.

Forensic and Paternity DNA Scientist, Genelex Corporation, Seattle, WA. 

Responsibilities included:

• Forensic and Parentage Casework. Performs scientific analysis of parentage 

and forensic testing cases. DNA analysis methods include STRs (Short tandem 

repeats) , RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism). Interprets 

observations, and reviews work product. Participates in quality control and 

quality assurance. Participates in internal and external proficiency testing. Probe 

Manufacture. Lead responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the 

Probe Manufacturing Department (since 9/94), including weekly manufacture, 

quality control, equipment maintenance, reagent inventory, shipping procedures, 

radioactivity records, customer service and technical support. 

Laboratory Assistant, University of Washington, Department of Neurological Surgery 

Research Laboratory, Seattle, WA. Responsibilities included assisting in various 

experiments, preparation of reagents, glassware washing and autoclaving, preparation of 

equipment and instruments for tissue culture, monitoring laboratory supplies, chemical
